This past week has been nothing short of amazing! We had the pleasure of covering the IEBA (International Entertainment Buyer’s Association) conference, a 3 day, all day seminar and showcasing of some of today’s best and brightest talent. It was an industry packed event, big and small, that welcomed insiders and execs from all over the country to learn and observe all things booking and live performance related. Each day commenced with informative lectures touching on aspects such as social media, event marketing, public relations, and ticketing, among other things, broken up by various talent showcases, and ending with major nightly events. Among the showcased talent were some of the industry’s hottest stars, past, present, and up and coming, such as Jack Ingram, Edens Edge, The Band Perry, Wynonna Judd, Kip Moore, Wanda Jackson, Bush Hawg, Corey Smith, Eric Paslay, Mark Chestnut, Sonia Leigh, Craig Campbell, Jim Messina, and the list goes on.
The conference ended Tuesday night with the 2011 IEBA Hall of Fame Induction, hosted by Laura Bell Bundy.  The organization saluted the influential and inspirational Bobby Baker, Jimmy Jay, Paul Moore, Tandy Rice, Lou Robin, Mike Smardak, Leroy Van Dyke and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for their contributions in and of the industry.  Other performences include music legendary’s, Don Schlitz and Roy Clark.

P.S.  Vids coming soon!
P.P.S. THANK YOU IEBA!

Last week we discovered  the beauty that is  Mckay’s Used Books, CDs, Movies And More.   Basically an emporium of awesomeness and a treasure trove for all those albums that have long since been forgotten.  Needless to say we spent several hours basking in it’s amazingness.  We had to resist the urge to spend our whole paycheck, buttt this is what we ended up with:

1. Sierra Hull‘s debut album, “Secrets.”
2. The Wrecker’s Live CD
3.  An old school Jack Ingram and The Beat Up For Band album from 1996!
4. Robert Passman’s “All You Need To Know About The Music Industry, aka our bible.

We also hit up goodwill, because we are addicted to thrift stores, and scored a Big & Rich band tee, which we have already cut the neck off of, andddd a crazy cool book called, “Nashville City Of Note” which will look bangin’ on the coffee table we don’t have yet. :-p

If you follow us at all, you know that we love. this. guy.  We legit cannot say enough good things about him.  He, in our eyes is one of the most influential people in the country music industry right now.  CEO of Big Machine Label Group, of which consists of Big Machine Records, Valory Music Co, and Republic Nashville, Scott Borchetta is a genius.   Scott is most well known for his discovery of our love, Taylor Swift, which in and of it’s self has seriously changed the industry.  However, his legacy has been a long time coming.  He’s been holding down the fort in Nash for several years working alongside prominent labels such as MCA, Dreamworks and UMC, among others.  And now, at a time and place when it seems that much of music row is hanging around purely for money, Borchetta is stepping in and taking the reigns.  The industry being the gamble that it is, everyone has to do what they have to do to survive, that being said we feel that Scott has managed to balance cash and quality of music extremely well.  Defying the odds. We feel that above all, he genuinely cares about the the music.  Borchetta’s wildly successful and immensely young independent record group is home to many of country music and county radio’s greatest talents.  He and his team have a way of spotting the beauty in artists and releasing it.  The means in which Big Machine has grown since it’s establishment less than a decade ago, is almost awe-ing when viewed from an economical stance.  Especiallyyy at a time when so many label are closing their doors and dropping their artists.  We attribute a large amount of the success to Scott.  We could go on forever about his means and methods, and his ability to start and strengthen artists careers but we’ll end by just saying, Thank you.  We love you Mr. Borchetta, and we hope to be meeting you soon!

Check more on Scotty and his team HERE.

Big Machine records, of which is associated with Republic Nash and Valory Music Co, has joined with Iheart Radio digital radio source to give us a one stop shop for all things Big Machine.  Consisting of some of the finest artists Nashville has to offer, including but not limited to many of our favorites such asss Steel Mag, T-Swift, Eden’s Edge, Justin Moore, The Band Perry, SHEL, Jack Ingram, Sunny Sweeney, The Eli Young Band, and sooo many more.  We’re excited about this expantion because we are absolutely obsessed with this record group, and we totally support every Scott Borchetta stands for.  He is an absolute genius.  The station accesses more than just music from the said artists, but also gives bio’s, sound bites, interviews, etc.  Needless to say, we’re already hooked.

Listen HERE! We already are.  Now playing: Jack Ingram “One Thing.”

Sooo tomorrow is the Hootie and The Blowfish Monday After the Master’s Celebrity Pro Am Golf Tournament. And no the name is not long enough 😉 Anyway, we went last year and go to meet a ton of cool celebs including Jack Ingram, Steve Azar, Colt Ford and Darius Rucker. Buttt this year we were idiots and forgot to buy tickets. (which isn’t stopping us from going, btwz) Anyway long story short, a bunch of celebs are in town right now and isn’t it fate that of all of them we run into Darius Rucker?! One of 4 country artists playing this year. Okayyy, so we didn’t really run into him but we ran into his tour bus.  And Naturally we freaked and made some random guy take pics for us. legit. The random guy happened to be VIP and let us know that Darius was indeed in the bus which obvi it still counts. Holla.

P.S. We are crashing the tournament with or without tickets. So stealthy. Look out Jack Ingram.  We have oh so much to talk about.

P.P.S We ran into someone else as well…

Love you, Tay.

This is a Jack Ingram original; Biloxi.  Lovee the way this song flows.  Jack’s voice is perfection.  We’ve always loved the acoustic version of this better than the recorded.  Sososo good!

“And you only came around, to take a rest to come down from Biloxi, but you were not the same/ Pretending that your cared, pretending you were there and not in Biloxi, and the Gulf  Of Mexico.”
