Bluegrass Bluegrass Bluegrass!!!
We were lucky enough to attend the final day of the International Bluegrass Fan Fest, this Saturday. We heard about it, literally the day before, otherwise we’d have been there all week.
No complaints though, for a mere $20 we spent one extremely long day in the presence of instruments that were way too cool for us, people who were way more talented than us, and best of all… we got the opportunity to be front row for… oh yea… Alison Krauss!!!!!!!!

It’s offical. We can die happy now.

Sierra Hull. Alison’s second coming.

Darryl Worley came out to recognize his friend, legendary songwriter, Harley Allen.

Patiently awating Alison…

Last week we discovered  the beauty that is  Mckay’s Used Books, CDs, Movies And More.   Basically an emporium of awesomeness and a treasure trove for all those albums that have long since been forgotten.  Needless to say we spent several hours basking in it’s amazingness.  We had to resist the urge to spend our whole paycheck, buttt this is what we ended up with:

1. Sierra Hull‘s debut album, “Secrets.”
2. The Wrecker’s Live CD
3.  An old school Jack Ingram and The Beat Up For Band album from 1996!
4. Robert Passman’s “All You Need To Know About The Music Industry, aka our bible.

We also hit up goodwill, because we are addicted to thrift stores, and scored a Big & Rich band tee, which we have already cut the neck off of, andddd a crazy cool book called, “Nashville City Of Note” which will look bangin’ on the coffee table we don’t have yet. :-p

Bluegrass sensation, Sierra Hull shows off her versatility as she lends her voice to pop hit “Someone Like You” by Adele.  Sierra’s soft and pure vocals give a refreshing contrast to the original powerhouse ballad.   Anddd, as expected Hull, litters the song with all the bluegrass furnishings.

I really loved how simple her version was of ‘Someone Like You’ was and thought it would translate well to cover acoustically with a full band.”

This is Sierra’s 2nd video to date and will be available for digital download on August 2nd!

Click here to check out the new vid!  She’s givin’  Adele a run for her money, what do y’all think!?

Here’s the orginal:

Last week we had the pleasure of checkin’ out the up-and-coming bluegrass prodigy, Sierra Hull, annnnd we gotta say, we’re kind of obsessed.  We bought her newest album, Daybreak, and we cannot stop playing it.  Especially track 9, “Tell Me Tomorrow.”  In our eyes it’s totally the standout track of the album, and ought to be her next single.  Loving the seamless progression from the verse to the chorus and the driving fiddle action goin’ on.   It’s super catchy and an all around good song.  Take a listen, yo.

Soo sorry for the lack of posts! We’re having some major drama with Twin Love, mostly graphic design and/or hosting related.  We really want to make this thing look better, and we don’t want a ton of traffic in the middle of our blog break down.  Buttt, as always, we’ve been running around and we thought it was high time we shared some stuff.  Site will be all fixed in a day or two, no judgement right now, please!

-On the 4th, we skipped the pandemonium downtown to check out some good ol’ mountain music.  We drove way out past Franklin to track down up-and-coming bluegrass prodigy, the lovely, the talented, Sierra Hull So worth it!  This girl is stunning!  At 20, Sierra is a dead ringer for Alison Krauss; so skilled and so so adorable  She’s exactly what bluegrass needs right now.  Her voice combined with her mando/guitar ability is completely fresh and stand out.  Especially for her age and especially for right now.  We love love love it and have the highest of hopes! Much more on Sierra and her band Highway 11 HERE!

-Also keeping us busy for the past couple of days, one of our best friends from home, Steph Bristow has been hanging with us here in Nash.  She timed the visit perfectly with her boyfriend and his touring band’s Nashville showcase…
Which meant a couple nights of crazy nights of pop/punk.  No complaints there.

It also made our apartment the official crash spot for 12 different guys in 3 different bands.
And in return we got an acoustic performance from a not so acoustic band…

And had an awesome time!

These guys are dedicated, talented, and extremely grateful musicians.  Make sure to show them some love:  Of Fortune and Fame, Leylines, Sidelined.

ETC:

Alsooo, We have had THE best luck with running into people this week:
-Sunday we got caught in traffic with Blake Shelton.  We flashed him his greatest hits CD and he proceeded to roll down his window and tell us that he loved us!!  It pays to be ghetto and still own CD’s!
-Two hours later we ran into one of our very favorite people, Miss Hannah Blaylock of Eden’s Edge! Such a sweetheart!!  She was with accompanied by her awesome artist/songwriting extraordinaire of a friend, Laura Veltz, of whom has co-written 2 of EE’s songs (Slow Motion and Think About Us.)
-The next day we spotted us some Faith Hill getting her produce on at Whole Foods.  She was in stealth mode and completely free of makeup, butttt just as gorgeous in person, we promise.
-Anddd today, Jamie had a Susie Brown of The JaneDear Girls run in right outside our place of work, Abercrombie and Fitch Green Hills.   She’s still freaking out about it.

Oh, yea.  We had to show some love for the new inductees!  Congrats, guys!

P.S. Happy birthday America.   Thanks for being the best country ever!!!

We hit the town today.  Centennial Park was holding one of their Musician’s Corner specials, a relatively new series of concerts they hold on Saturdays during the summer.  Country’s lovin man James Otto hit the stage this afternoon, so we had to show some love.  Love this guy.  Greatt music.  He just parted ways with his label so we’re really interested to see what he’s got in store for the future.  Check more on him HERE!

(tilt head left.. :P)

OMG PAUL WORLEY! 2011’s producer of the year.  His latest venture: Our loves, Stealing Angelsss.   (See pic below)
Laterr we went on downtown to check out the pandemonium that is Jimmy Buffet‘s tailgating party.  He’s playing Bridgestone Arena tonight so they closed off a whole block on lower Broadway just for the fans.  The VIP area was complete with free stuff, live music and food.  Our 3 favorite things 🙂  The who fiesta was conveniently and oh so cleverly located to Nash’s brand spankin new Margaritaville.  And, yea..  crazyness.  We’ve never seen so much beach attire in our lives.  And we lived in Myrtle for 2 years.

Whooo’s tour bus could that be?! (psst.. we don’t really know but we’re assuming Mr. Buffet’s)

Since we were already downtown we kind of went camera Happy.  This is Em at Ernest Tubb’s Record Shop.  One of the hallmarks of Nash.  If you don’t know Ernest Tubb look him up! If this area looks at all familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen it before.  This stage was used in Loretta Lynn‘s film, Coal Miner’s Daughter.  Anddd in that movie they were recreating an actual performance, in the actual record shop, in which Miss Lynn, a then relatively new artist, packed the house! And killed it. Love.  You may also recognize it from O’Shea, our Aussi fav’s, latest hit vid “Smash.”
Alison and Sierra! Where you at?! You best believee we’re waiting outside the Ryman when y’all come.  If we don’t have tix by then, of course. 😉

Oh Yea, we almost forgot.  We also debuted on the Opry.  Google it.

Check out this super cute pic we found on Sierra Hull‘s blog.  That’s her and our lover, Alison Krauss hanging out in D.C. at The National Prayer Breakfast.   Word on the street is that Dan Tyminski was also present.  Gah how awesome is that?  Wish we could have been there.  We’re still not sure why we weren’t invited.  We can only assume or invitations were misplaced.  Hmmph!

PS. Does Alison’s hair look darker or is it just us?  Maybe it’s the lighting.  Either way it looks bangin’, girl.
